Well once again I’ve missed time with family, this time it was Cameron’s birthday on the 10th. To my surprise when I called to say happy birthday I found out that I was the first family member to actually call. If nothing else this deployment has taught me to better appreciate home and family. As depressing as it is to think about how much I’m missing back home it’s that same thing that keeps me going. To think about where we would be if brave men and women hadn’t served before me.
On that back tat idea for my brother, just incase you hadn’t checked my myspace pictures here it is:

Another piece of information is that my platoon finally got some credit for everything that we’ve done so far with this deployment. 98% of the time whenever we try to put in for an award of any kind we get responded to with “they’re just doing there jobs.” To me that is absurd, we save lives and track down enemy targets but aren’t in the running because we’re “just doing our jobs.” How is that any different then an infantrymen or scout shooting down the enemy, after all that IS there job. Alas, the army too (like so many other things in our society) is more politics then actual war. Here’s a pic of my certificate of achievement, each of the shadow operators was given one…

Still tired and looking forward to R&R, Tommie Lee Roberts (a.k.a. Pup)

Hey boy! Congrats on the regonition. Started back to school last week, teachers come back Monday, the students the week after. Mrs. Ellis is coming back looking as healthy as always. She’ll only have one English IV class – will be spending most of the day in the library. Got the Baylor Briefs scanned in… haven’t done much else with debate – waiting to see if I have any debaters. Would be kind of nice to have a year off. Picking up a new hobbie – digital photography. Was pretty good at it years ago, but we had to sell all my equipment while we were in college – needed food.
Had money left over in my tech budget so bought a Nikon with a couple of lenses. Ordered two additional point and shoots for my tech applications class. Perhaps I can nurture the more creative side of me?
Keep your head down.
Love,
Dad

Hi Babe!
Congratulations! I printed out a copy of the certificate – I know you have the original – just wanted to hold a copy and be able to show Papa & Mama.
Speding hours getting ready to go back to school – kinda nervous about all of the changes this year – but, I suppose probably not nearly as anxious as you were with all of the changes going on with your life last year…
I love you! Momma

Congrats on the recognition!!! We all appreciate the work you guys are doing over there!!!
I started back to work on WED.
Kids start on 25th. I am teaching Pre-cal again for the first time in years.
Your sis and Becka are in town. I talked to her about 3:15 and they were still at the mall in Humble (At least 45min form here and on a Friday at that time, probably an hour). Text her again about 6:30 and they were at a diferent mall close to my house. She thought they were almost done. Well, its after 8 and no word from Kimberly. Guess they were not quite done. LOL
I am glad to have here here again. We are going to a concert tomorrow. I miss getting to hang out with her on a regular basis.
When you come home, we need to play a little 42!!
Love ya!!!

We were so glad to hear from you too!! Cameron has told everyone that Uncle Tommie called her. Don’t worry. I know it’s hard to miss out on some of these occasions, but you are here with us in our hearts, and there will be plenty more later on for you to share with us in person. We love and appreciate you.

Hey Boy!
Haven’t posted in awhile? Thought I’d send a note anyway. School has started… I have virtually all 10th and 11th graders for history. Different than English; enjoying it so far. Six C-Xers this year… Mrs. Harrison and Mr. Osby just kind of told them that they didn’t have much choice. Should have a couple of decent teams… no pressure, that should make things a little more enjoyable. Looking for a couple of LDers… Would prefer to find one or two that are “unique” to make LD kind of special. We’ll see. Interesting to have Missy in High School. She’s trying very hard to be mature… probably doing a better job than most fish. Hope she does alright; she works hard. Everything else is about the same. Starting to look forward to you coming home… I know it still a good ways off, but it seems like it’s been forever.
Love,
Dad
